Hoodia is a plant that is found mainly in the deserts of South Africa. It was recently discovered that Hoodia is an amazing appetite suppressant. Although the rest of the world is just now learning about the powerful affects Hoodia can have on our appetites, we have now learned that the San Bushmen of the Kalahari desert in South Africa has been eating it for many generations. Today we simply eat too much
Today we are much fatter than we were decades ago. There are many possible reasons why we weigh a lot more today. We eat a lot more fast food (which is usually not very healthy). We eat a lot more processed foods and less natural foods, which research has shown to cause weight gain and have a negative affect on our health. We have a lot more stress in our life (which can cause us to gain weight). But in my opinion the biggest reason we weigh a lot more today then we used to is because we simply eat way too much. And today we eat out so much as a society that we have gotten used to eating larger portions. Most of us eat too much at every meal. And after doing this day after day for years it not only adds up to a lot of extra weight, but it makes it hard to stop eating this way.
To lose weight you need to burn off more calories than you take in each day. But when we get older we don't burn calories like we did when we were younger as our metabolisms slows down. I can tell you first hand that I had been trying to lose weight for years. I worked out 5 or 6 days a week and ate OK, maybe not great, but better than most people I knew. But once I started putting on the pounds I had trouble losing weight no matter how many hours I put in the gym each week.
